"I take a different approach [from other woodworkers] by milling much of my wood myself. For walnut, I travel to California, where the walnut orchards are, and get specially milled blocks.
"I try to put an artistic flair into each cutting board by using unique woods in a creative way. Most boards are book-matched to create an interesting showcase of wood features such as grain, knots, etc. This is done in the milling process which makes our boards truly unique.
"After the milling process, I hand select each wood stock piece for its interest. I then lay these out in a variety of patterns, to find the right 'look' that shows off the color, grain and features. My foremost concern is to make a product that will withstand the use of knives and moisture on a daily basis, when cared for properly."
